Introduction to Monitoring Network

Based on the Chinese meridian project, the IMCP Coordinated Monitoring Platform aims to carry out all-latitude, all-weather observation of the system formed by the geospace, the atmosphere, the Earth surface cycles and spheres, by combining some 5000 instruments from more than ten countries along the 120°E and 60°W meridian circle.

The coordinated monitoring platform combines the ground observations and spaceborne detection, forming a three dimensional observa-tion of the geospace environment, which covers the whole globe and can produce the global image with unprecedented accuracy and has the capacity to monitor the Earth's atmosphere and geospace unremittingly for 24 hours a day. Each "imaging unit" is composed of a variety of instruments that can image in three dimensions multiple geospace cycles and spheres at different heights so as to understand the spatial and temporal changes in the global structure of space weather.
